A Note Regarding Financing A Motorcycle"When purchasing your new or pre-owned motorcycle, there are many options available to pay for it. Some choose to pay cash, and others finance. I certainly understand and used to think that paying cash was the way to go, but found out a few things along the road that have changed my mind.
Many times you are better off in the long term by financing the bike and investing the cash. Investment earnings in the long term far and away outweigh any finance charges. Also, if you pay cash and don't finance any of your purchases, it may be especially important for you to take advantage of keeping a current profile on your credit report. If you pay cash, you'll leave here with one asset -- the bike! But, if you were to finance your purchase, you could leave with three assets:
1) Your new motorcycle,
2) Your money still in the bank, and
3) A strengthenend credit history.
It is also important to keep in mind that there are some things in life you just can't finance. It may be wise to keep some cash on hand for emergencies.
One aspect of borrowing from credit unions, especially company credit unions, is that if you were to lose your job, the loan could become due and payable in full immediately. Credit unions may not finance your accessories and other necessary protections like service plans or cycle insurance. They may also be allowed in some cases to share any of your private information.
Your banks may require as much as 20-25% as a down payment and some may only finance for terms of up to 48-60 months. Some banks may also only finance the bike itself, not any additional accessories or items.
Choosing a finance source for your new bike is very important and it is wise to consider all options. We select finance sources that give you the flexibility of a longer term for smaller payments, competitive rates, lower down payments, and approval amounts that cover additional coverages and accessories.
It is our job to find you the best finance source that will be a match to your needs, and you can count on the fact that we will search all of our resources to make it easy for you to purchase your dream."
